Now: checks v0.5.0, score v1.1. A result made with an older version can differ until it is scanned again.
A kind for sites whose page we can’t read
A site that turns automated visitors away, or asks bots to stay out, used to get no "Looks like" at all. Now it gets the kind Wikidata gives it, when Wikidata lists the site with a clear type (a newspaper, a streaming service, a shop), and the result says the kind comes from Wikidata. A few more Wikidata types name a kind for every site. Results made before show the change when they are scanned again.
Launch: six answers about any website, with the evidence
CheckAnySite opens with one scan that answers six questions about a website: whether it was built with AI, how popular it is, what it runs on, what it does, which trust signals it shows, and a site score (formula 1.1) that adds them up, each with its evidence. The AI Website Detector looks for 53 AI builders and 19 site builders with AI features, and the scan names 611 technologies. We tested it on 2,312 labelled live websites and published the results, misses included, in the accuracy write-up. Every later change to how scans find things gets its own entry here, mistakes included.
Spotted something wrong? Report it: a fixed signature reaches every result, and the fix is listed here.
